People's Choice @ The Artist Project Toronto

I've just learned that I won the People's Choice Award among the UNTAPPED Emerging Artists at the Artist Project Toronto (which incidentally is the only award, except for the "Lemon" Contest that sponsor Absolut Citron Vodka ran)! Which means I'll be back again next year in my (even bigger) complimentary booth. I can hardly wait!

ArtProfile

I am very pleased to announce that I am now represented in Toronto by Rupert Young (the Director of Gallery Moos) and his new art agency, ArtProfile. We will be working together over the next few months to plan and organize exhibitions, mostly in Toronto and Montreal. The agency will be expanding to New York City over the next year as well. Couldn't be more delighted!

The paintings in the exhibition will be from my Stereoscopy series, and will also be for sale. If you are interested in attending TEDxGuelphU, there is still space left at the simulcast ($5). The live audience has reached capacity. Those attending either will get to attend a "swanky gala" afterward. You know you want to... spots are filling up fast!

Here is the latest ad for the exhibition next month, from the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts. I hope you can all make it!

Artist Talk

I will be giving an artist talk about my work at the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts. As part of their Tuesday Night at the Arts Centre, I will be giving a lecture about my work, my influences, where I see the direction of my work going, my favorite colour, etc. This is happening of course, in anticipation of the exhibition "Talking Pictures" which opens the following Saturday, February 5th at 3pm. Free. All are welcome. Come on out!

Talking Pictures

February is quickly approaching, and I'm tied to my easel until then. While the show was originally meant to display the talents of three artists, it will now just showcase my work as well as the photography of artist, Erin Riley (based in Toronto). The show is titled "Talking Pictures" and both of our bodies of work compliment each other harmoniously within this theme. I am constantly investigating my relationship to photography and contemporary media as a painter, whereas Riley is a conceptual photographer whose works represent that which is beyond the aesthetic (as I understand it). It stands to be a fascinating show.

Update: As well as my Stereoscopy series, it looks like I will be showcasing some of my older works, including some video.
